Another message from Watermael-Boitsfort (Brussels) "On March 17, 2018 we are organising a bike travel festival in Boitsfort. The one-day programme will include films, workshops/conferences and exhibition stands. There will be a session about activists who travel by bike with Dynamobile and Climate Express. It will be a +/- 50 minutes session during which each group will present its goals, practical organisation and how biking is used for advocacy. Presentations will be followed by a discussion with the audience. Cycling for Libraries Belgium is invited to join this session! We'll keep you informed! General information about the festival can be found on the website : http://www.enrouelibre.be/ Mail: [email protected] Delphine and Colette, our friends from Watermael-Boitsfort (Brussels), published an article about C4L in "Les Chemins du Rail". You can read it here. Thanks to Hilde and her amazing 'badge machine' we were able to procure every participant a personal name badge. Two questions less to be asked (Who are you - Where do you come from) - and more time for the questions that really matter! Library visits are always enriching, but on a tour like this it's sometimes frustrating that there is not enough time to exchange and talk to the local guests. There is always a next appointment waiting or a timing to be respected! That's why we invented our 'carte plumes': small cards that were distributed to the participants before or during the library visit. That allowed everyone to write down some personal comments, questions, congratulations for the local library team. The cards were given to the librarians as a memory of our visit. Yukka designed our flyers. We used them to inform the public along the road about our initiative: who are we, why are we doing this.
As almost everything during the preparation process, it proved to be a bit more complicated than usual, because we had to provide flyers in our three national languages. Visibility is very important, not only for safety reasons but als to make sure that people see us when we pass by.
That's why every participant wears the traditional 'Cycling for libraries safety vest, with the logo of the local tour. We offer them in two colours: yellow for the participants, and orange for the first and last cyclist and for the road captains. In april 2017 we launched the first version of our site: information about Cycling for libraries and Cycling for libraries Belgium, with a link to a pre-registration form. The response was rather promising: 55 reactions! > The first announcement |
